Which Wemo products support Apple’s HomeKit?

The Wemo line is known for being some of the best smart home accessories around, but unfortunately, it was a little late getting to the HomeKit party. When it finally arrived, HomeKit still required a separate smart bridge, which was sold separately and didn’t support all of the Wemo products. Since then, HomeKit has been added to the latest versions of light switches and plugs, however, there are still some of those older accessories lingering around which can make things a little confusing. Don’t worry though, we have got it all sorted out.

Small Smarts

Wemo Mini Smart Plug

Staff Favorite

Use this tiny plug to turn any appliance into a smart home accessory. The Mini is HomeKit compatible right out of the box, with no separate bridge required, and it is one of the most affordable plugs around. The best part though is that it is so compact, that you can fit two of them into the same outlet, which is rare for smart pugs.

Dim the lights

Wemo Wi-Fi Smart Dimmer

The Wemo Wi-Fi Smart Dimmer Switch can dim the lights on an automated schedule, in just a few taps of your phone, or with a command of your voice with Siri. This dimmer has a built-in night light making it easy to find in the darkest of rooms, and the center section of the switch is touch-sensitive. This means that you can simply slide your finger up and down to set the mood.

Lighting control

Wemo Smart Light Switch

After installation, you can use this smart light switch to control all of the lights in a room, setting schedules and timers. Be careful though, as there are two versions of the Wemo Light Switch, one of which requires the smart bridge. To ensure that you are getting the HomeKit model, look for the “Works with Apple HomeKit” logo on the box, or just use one of the links below.

Three’s a crowd

Control the rest

Wemo Bridge

The Wemo Bridge brings HomeKit to the older Smart Light Switch and Insight Smart Plug, as well as discontinued devices like the Wemo Motion Sensor, which is no longer for sale. If you have some of these older light switches installed around your home, and you don’t want the hassle of replacing it with the latest version, then the Wemo Bridge is the way to go.

Keeping track

Wemo Insight Smart Plug

Even though the Wemo Mini offers HomeKit support built-in, it lacks energy monitoring capabilities, which is something that the older Wemo Insight has. This plug, when combined with the Wemo Bridge, gives you access to real-time energy usage, which can help to identify devices that are consuming the most energy. This can lead to potential money savings, especially if you can turn off that energy hog remotely if you forget on your way out the door.

Wemo is one of the top brands in smart home accessories, and its products are some of the best within the HomeKit ecosystem. If you’re just getting started with home automation or smart home control, pick up the Wemo Mini Smart Plug to use with something like a lamp. It’s a great way to get started with home automation, and you can easily build out your smart home from there.

Looking to add Siri and dimming to your home’s lighting? Then the Wemo Wi-Fi Smart Dimmer is the one for you. This slick dimmer switch has a touchpad in the center that allows for dimming controls via a slide of your finger. This switch also has a handy nightlight, making it easy to find in the dark.
